Awash Bank, the leading private bank in Ethiopia and Amref Health Africa, the largest Africa based international non-governmental organization (NGO) signed today a long term partnership agreement to work jointly towards improving the health and well-being of Ethiopians, support progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and collaborate to narrow gender inequity gaps across Ethiopia.
As part of this long term partnership agreement and its first initiative working with Amref Health Africa, Awash Bank now provides financial support for the construction of 10 sanitation facilities to be implemented by Amref Health Africa in selected government schools in Addis Ababa. The project is expected to improve sustainable and equitable access to WASH for more than 20,000 school communities, and will be put into practice immediately up on the signing of the agreement document by both parties. This first intervention appears to be an important commitment to address the sanitation and hygiene problems of school children in their school setting; thereby contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Following this partnership agreement signed today, Awash Bank and Amref Health Africa will also identify opportunities for long term strategic partnership and future impact investment projects.
