Smart Saving Terms and Condition

The Smart Saving Account is a digital savings account offered through AwashBirr Pro and is available to:

• Minors (ages 0–17): The account is opened and operated by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of the minor, in accordance with the Bank’s policies and applicable laws and regulations.
• Students (ages 18–25): The account may be opened and operated by eligible students in accordance with the Bank’s policies and applicable product requirements.

I may create, manage, update, and monitor my personal savings goals through the AwashBirr Pro platform. Savings goal progress and any associated rewards are subject to the Bank’s applicable product rules, eligibility criteria, and campaign terms and are not determined solely by the personal savings goals created by me.

The Smart Saving Account may maintain separate balances for different savings features:

• Saving Goal Balance: The total amount saved and allocated toward my savings goals.
• Seasonal Challenge Balance: The amount saved or committed toward eligible seasonal savings challenges, as displayed on the Seasonal Challenges screen.
• Saver Wallet Balance: The combined total of the Saving Goal Balance and the Seasonal Challenge Balance.

Deposits into the Smart Saving Account may be made by transferring funds from my linked Awash Bank account or linked AwashBirr wallet through the banking channels made available by the Bank.

Withdrawals from the Smart Saving Account will be transferred only to my linked Awash Bank account or linked AwashBirr wallet, subject to the applicable product features, transaction limits, eligibility requirements, and restrictions established by the Bank.

A Top-Up means adding or depositing funds into the Smart Saving Account by transferring money from my linked Awash Bank account or linked AwashBirr wallet through the available banking channels.

The Smart Saving Account earns interest based on the Bank’s approved interest rates and applicable product terms.

Every eligible saver may earn Base Interest on qualifying savings. Savers who meet the Bank’s eligibility criteria for Reward Interest may earn Base Interest plus Reward Interest. Savers who do not meet the applicable Reward Interest eligibility criteria will earn Base Interest only.

The Monthly Minimum Balance refers to the minimum amount that remains continuously saved in the account throughout the applicable month and is used to determine eligibility for Base Interest and, where applicable, Reward Interest, in accordance with the Bank’s product rules.

Customers may participate in seasonal savings challenges offered by the Bank from time to time. Participation eligibility, challenge conditions, reward criteria, reward amounts, and other applicable terms are governed by the specific rules and conditions of each campaign or seasonal challenge.

Funds allocated to savings features, including Saving Goals and Seasonal Challenges, may be locked and temporarily unavailable for withdrawal until the applicable goal or challenge reaches its maturity or completion date, or until the Bank’s applicable release conditions are satisfied.

The Bank may also temporarily lock or restrict access to all or part of a balance where required under applicable laws, regulations, Bank policies, product rules, or in connection with suspected or confirmed fraud, misuse, or other prohibited activities.

The Bank reserves the right, subject to applicable laws and regulations, to introduce, amend, suspend, or discontinue any product feature, interest rate, reward, campaign, fee, charge, eligibility criterion, or provision of these Terms & Conditions.

Where required, the Bank will provide applicable notice of material changes in accordance with its policies and applicable laws and regulations.

I agree to comply with all applicable banking policies, product rules, terms and conditions, and regulatory requirements governing the Smart Saving Account.

By creating and using the Smart Saving Account, I confirm my acceptance of these Terms & Conditions and agree to be bound by them.
